SUMMARY:BADS Day Case Emergency General Surgery Virtual Conference - 7th December 2023
DESCRIPTION:To learn more\, and register\, please click on the image immediately below. There is a 20% discount code available: HCUK20KH. If you cannot attend on the day\, you will have full access to the recordings afterwards. \n \nBy attending this conference you will learn how to offer high-quality\, efficient ambulatory emergency surgery pathways\, utilise the best technology available\, for the benefit of our patients\, and make the best use of our valuable and limited healthcare resources.\nThe UK has a very strong international reputation for excellence in day surgery care\, which is driven by a number of factors including high quality research\, an emphasis on efficient use of NHS resources including infrastructure and workforce and not least\, dynamic clinical leaders\, examples of which we will be hearing from today. \nThe rationale for effective elective day surgery is well understood and whilst work continues to improve care in this area\, the provision of day case/ambulatory emergency & urgent surgical care has been a recent focus of research and healthcare reform. This is because outcomes in emergency surgery have been shown to be poor compared to other countries and compared to elective surgical patients. I believe that we can and should be offering high-quality\, efficient ambulatory emergency surgery pathways\, utilising the best technology available\, for the benefit of our patients and making the best use of our valuable and limited healthcare resources. \nThis conference will enable you to: \n\nNetwork with colleagues working to improve day case emergency general surgery care\nUnderstand the fundamental principles of successful emergency surgery ambulatory care pathways\nAppreciate what data is available to measure performance in emergency general surgery and how to use this for benchmarking\nIdentify key strategies for implementation of emergency surgery ambulatory care\nLearn what technology is available and how this might improve surgical ambulatory care\nSupport your continuing professional development (CPD) and provide evidence for revalidation. This course provides 4 hours of education to support your appraisal process subject to peer group approval\n\nAbout the British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) \n \nThe British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) is a multidisciplinary organisation constituted from surgeons\, anaesthetists\, allied healthcare professionals including nurses\, advanced nursing practitioners\, operating department practitioners\, anaesthetic practitioners\, perioperative assistants\, physiotherapists and hospital managers. It is committed to promoting excellence in day surgery via its educational activities and publications and collaboration with other organisations including Getting it Right First Time and The Centre for Perioperative Care. Membership benefits include: free online access to the Journal of One-Day Surgery and educational resources (e.g. previous annual conference presentations\, tutorials and a day surgery unit directory\, which is to launched later this year)\, discounted registration fees for the BADS Annual Conference and HCUK-BADS conferences\, eligibility to apply for the BADS Educational Grant\, and complementary membership of the International Association of Ambulatory Surgery. \nFurther information is available from the BADS website: www.bads.co.uk
