About SLAMADS
Sri Lanka Association of Minimal Access and Digital Surgeons
SLAMADS was established in 2020 to address a significant need among Sri Lankan surgical professionals for structured support in advancing their minimal access surgery (MAS) capabilities. The association works to help surgeons develop their skills and to assist health authorities in developing MAS programmes throughout Sri Lanka.
SLAMADS represents a diverse membership spanning general surgery, radiology, gynaecology, and allied surgical specialties — with a particular emphasis on empowering recently appointed surgeons and surgical trainees at the outset of their careers.
Our Purpose
Primary Objectives
SLAMADS exists to build a sustainable foundation for minimally invasive surgery across Sri Lanka — through skills development, institutional support, and active promotion of education and research.
Support Surgeons in Improving MAS Skills
Providing structured access to training, mentorship, and resources that enable surgeons to develop and maintain competency in minimal access surgical techniques.
Assist Health Authorities in Developing MAS
Working with hospitals, health ministries, and institutional leaders to support the establishment and growth of MAS programmes across the Sri Lankan health system.
Promote Education & Research in MAS
Fostering a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice through educational programmes, research collaboration, and dissemination of best practice in minimally invasive surgery.
