The UK & Ireland’s Premier Professional Association in the fields of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgery
Advancing surgical excellence through innovation, collaboration and education.
About ALRSGBI
The Association of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons was formed on 22nd April 1994 in Harrogate by the amalgamation of the Society of Minimally Invasive General Surgeons (SMIGS) and British Surgical Stapling Group (BSSG).
The ALRSGBI is the leading voice for laparoscopic and robotic surgeons across the UK and Ireland – bringing together a community committed to innovation, excellence, and progress in modern surgery.
Inspired by the legacy of pioneers like Lord McColl and Mr David Dunn, we continue to support the next generation through initiatives such as the David Dunn Medal and Travelling Scholarship – empowering surgeons to learn, grow, and shape the future of patient care.
