Emergency Paediatric Surgical Skills course, Slough – 26th June 2026

The ALRS Academy Paediatric Surgery subgroup invites you to join this unique novel workshop focused around Paediatric Surgery Skills and Tricks for the adult general surgeon! This day’s workshop will take place in the Karl Storz “Training and Technology Centre” in Slough, focusing on mainly hands-on practice and exercises guided by expert Paediatric Surgeons with both dry and wet lab exercises in the form of animal models. It is aimed at general surgical trainees and fellows who will encounter paediatric patients on their acute surgical take, and want to expand their experience and skill sets when it comes to dealing with this patient population. Senior registrars and fellows will initially be prioritised, but all trainees are encouraged to apply. There will be a high faculty to trainee ratio to ensure individualised learning needs are met, and a base level of experience is expected from participants, aiming at intermediate to advanced levels. Applicants should state their training level and any specific individual training preferences they may have for this rare opportunity. Places will be limited to maximum 12 participants and are expected to go very quickly for this unique training opportunity. The anticipated course timing is 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Please contact Mrs Jennifer Treglohan at jtreglohan@alrsgbi.org initially for an application form. Registration fees are £50 for ALRS members and £100 for non-members. Please note that certificates of attendance will be emailed out after the course and upon completion of the online feedback form. Please only make payment when you have been approved to attend
