Angelita was a shining example of a life story and a guiding light for our lives and careers, including pioneering work in colorectal surgery. Equally important was her contribution to the access and relevance of women in medicine, overcoming prejudice in a field that was previously exclusive to male surgeons. She left her mark and influenced us all. RIP.
