East-Midlands Bariatric and Metabolic Institute (EMBMI) Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Bariatric Fellowship
Applications (Clinical Fellow) are invited for a fixed-term (12-months) post- or peri-CCT Royal College of Surgeons of England Accredited Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery Fellowship at EMBMI, based at Royal Derby Hospital, Derby. The post will commence in October 2022.
EMBMI provides an in-house Tier 3 and the regional Tier 4 service for patients from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and further afield. EMBMI undertakes a range of procedures including primary (Roux en-Y gastric bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass, gastric band insertion/removal and balloon insertions/removals) and complex revisional surgery.
Applicants must hold MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification, FRCS (or equivalent) and be within 12-months of CCT date. Candidates will preferably hold a higher degree (MD or PhD) or equivalent. Applicants should also be proficient in laparoscopic procedures (cholecystectomy, fundoplication, appendicectomy and hernias) and have good laparoscopic suturing skills.
