Chelliah Selvasekar appointed Professor

Mr Selvasekar has been appointed an honorary Clinical Professor in the faculty of health, social care, and medicine at Edge Hill University for his work on setting up the Masters in Surgery (MCh) programme at the University (MCh Surgery | Edge Hill University)and establishing international surgical collaboration in surgical training and education. He is currently a consultant colorectal surgeon and the associate medical director for the clinical services and specialist surgery at Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Sekar also is the clinical director at the Manchester Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre where he is involved in the regional development of cadaver surgical courses.
This course consists of two clinical research modules, a work-based learning module and a dissertation. Topics covered will include: Specialist aspects of evidence based practice in surgery – the application of advanced knowledge of physiology, pathology, microbiology and imaging.
  
Mr Selvasekar is the North-West Council representative at the ALSGBI & RATES. He is the robotic lead for the Association and has facilitated the development of robotic courses and webinars. He is also involved in robotic surgery training at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has assisted in signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo-Surgeons (IAGES) which has grown over the years with regular training programs and collaborative sessions at the Annual Scientific Meetings.
